  • Check In

Check-in - On your day of arrival, check-in time is 4:00 pm.  The address of Castle Creek Estate is 5709 Castle Avenue, Dunsmuir.  If you are traveling North on I-5, you will take exit 729, continue on Dunsmuir Avenue, turn left on Pine St and continue uphill to Castle Avenue.  Please note, Castle Avenue is a one lane street.  Castle Creek Escape is on your left.

If you are traveling South on I-5, take exit 730, turn left onto Dunsmuir Avenue and then a right onto Spruce Street.  Last turn is a left onto Castle Avenue.  Castle Creek Escape is on your right and easy to find as there are twinkle lights on the stairs.

PARKING: Castle Creek Escape has two parking spots in front of the house as well as plenty of street parking.  There is room for a pull trailer or moving van by parking parallel to the street in front of the house.  You can also pull forward when you leave, it is not a dead end street.

CONTACT - Should you have any questions or needs during your stay, you can reach me through the AirBnb messenger.  Although I live a short drive from Dunsmuir, I also have a cleaning / handyman crew in Dunsmuir who can help onsite.

  • Gift Shop

I love vintage finds, books, plants, rocks and art.  I think all of these items make a home warm and comfy.  They are also unique and stand out from most people’s homes.  I find vintage pottery from Bellingham to Seattle and all the way down to Redding.  I also find unique, special and vintage books in my Pacific NW travels.  Some of the books are available for purchase.  Please open the front cover and you will see a price or a NFS (not for sale) sticker on the first page.

My Abstract Expressionism paintings are available for purchase.  You can also find other paintings on my website, cammydavis.com

To purchase items, you can Zelle (425-891-5613) or Venmo (@castlecreekescape).  I also accept cash or check.  Please reach out if you have any questions

  • King Size Bedroom

Bedrooms -  I’ve gone to great lengths to make the bedrooms extra cozy. I’m kind of a snob about sheets and the ones on the beds are high quality 100% cotton.  The downside is that they look wrinkly sometimes.  I assure you they are fresh and great to sleep on.  You’re welcome.  I have stocked the house with different kinds of pillows.   I hope you find one you love.. There is also a pull out bed in the sofa.  Pull out the bottom bed and it will lift up into a queen size bed.  If you choose to just use a twin size, take the pillows off the sofa and it becomes twin size.  The sheets for both options, as well as blankets, are in the Lane Chest in the master bedroom.

  • Queen Bedroom

Queen-size bed with two nightstands + lamps

    Dresser for storage and unpacking

Small TV for watching in bed

    Chair for reading or relaxing

A comfy upstairs hideaway with everything you need for a restful night.

  • Upstairs Bathroom

Spacious bathroom with a soaking tub (no shower here)

If using the handheld shower head, make sure it’s set to “bath” when turning water on/off so it doesn’t spray outside the tub

Makeup towelettes provided here as well

🚫 Please do not flush flushable wipes, feminine hygiene products, or anything but toilet paper — the pipes are old and clog easily

🚫 Same rule here: only toilet paper in the toilet, please

✨ One’s for quick showers, the other’s for long soaks — enjoy both!

  • Main Floor Bathroom

Full bath with the only shower in the house

Please keep the inner curtain inside the tub so water doesn’t leak onto the floor

For maximum heat, turn the knob fully to the left (no need to force it)

Makeup towelettes are provided — please use these instead of washcloths

🚫 Same rule here: only toilet paper in the toilet, please

  • Laundry Room

There is a washer and dryer for your use.  Please see washer/dryer instructions below.

There is also a steam iron, as well as a broom, mop and dust buster for your use.  The charging cord for the dust buster is on the shelf next to the laundry detergent.

The back door out of the laundry room is an emergency exit only.  The back yard is not accessible.

  • Garbage & Recycling

Garbage and recycling cans are in the kitchen cabinets

Please take trash out during your stay and at checkout

Trash pod (shed) is in front of the house — re-lock when finished

Bears sometimes drag garbage from nearby houses onto my property — let me know if this happens so my handyman can clean up

Trash pickup is Thursday morning; bears often come out Wednesday night

Please don’t park in front of the trash pod on Wednesday nights (cleaner pulls can to curb early Thursday)

  • Staying Cozy – Cold Season

The house still has its original wavy-glass windows (1900s charm!), which can feel a little drafty.

Extra blankets are on the beds and throws are around the house to snuggle up with.

Monitor heater (kerosene) keeps things warm — just use the on/off button.

Space heaters are in each bedroom for added comfort.

Woodstove available for extra coziness (see separate instructions).

  • Woodstove

    To Build a Fire

    Open the damper

Place paper (newspaper, envelopes, bags, etc.) in stove

Add kindling from bucket on hearth

Arrange small dry wood in a teepee for airflow

Light with matches/lighter and close stove door

Once burning well, add larger logs gradually

    To Put Out Fire

    Let burn to embers

Close damper to cut off oxygen

Ensure stove is cold before leaving or bedtime

  • Keeping Cool – Warm Season

Fans are in the bedrooms and living areas to keep things comfortable.

Close curtains during the heat of the day to help the house stay cooler.

In the evening, fans can be moved for cross-breeze circulation.

  • Check Out

Thank you for washing and drying the towels before you go — it’s a huge help!

Please take out garbage/recycling to the trash shed (and re-lock).

Start the dishwasher with any used dishes.

Turn off lights, close windows, and lock doors.

Leave the key in the lockbox.
